My work embodies human emotions that relate on many levels to the struggles of the human condition. I strive to accurately illustrate the emotions using brushwork, color choices, and the composition. My pieces also incorporate little narratives within each canvas. I unify each narrative with the use of symbolism and the transformative properties the works poses. While painting I am able to connect with all humanity, without a word.

Metamorphosis
For metamorphosis I am doing an acrylic painting on canvas. I would like to capture the human figure in different poses expressing the body movement. Their position will be matched up with white lilies at their feet. From the bottom to the top of the painting the nature will start taking over their bodies to signify the transition between woman and nature or, mother nature.

Scholastic 144- Portraits of inspirational people
For this piece I decided to paint François Clemmons and Fred Rogers. Fred Rogers was the creator of Mister Rogers neighborhood. His show portrayed real life situations, simply. He taught children about the things that no one was talking about. There was a recent documentary explaining Fred Rogers life, and philosophies. Since seeing this was such an inspiration to me, I decided what better way to honor his life, than painting him.
The process
My Apple Empire
This was a mixed media, monochromatic identity piece. The main idea behind this piece is combining all the things that make me happy in one perfect place. While making this I took risks by trying a new style. I also had to reflect on my artwork so I could move forward. In the bottom I am being held by my love but, I am crying, this is to help remind me of the things that make me happy even when I'm not. I was inspired by the symbolism of Frida Kahlo, which I incorporated in this painting, in my own way. The white flowers in the bottom right are mountain laurels. They are the state flower of Pennsylvania where I grew up. The apple tree, inspiring the name is a symbol of my family, and childhood. When I was young I would climb up the apple tree in my backyard. I would gather as many apples as possible in my shirt and I would sit and eat them I called it my "apple empire." To "branch" from that the butterflies are a symbol of me growing up; I am a senior in high school, not a caterpillar anymore.
